GreaterTrail Hike: Hike Canadian Flag

Do you enjoy hiking up to get a spectacular viewpoint? The following video shows an alternate hiking trail route up to the Canadian Flag located above the sub-division of Sunningdale in Trail British Columbia Canada. The Sunningdale Canadian Flag hike is very popular, but not all people can hike the regular route due to how steep some of the terrain is up past the swamps to get on the ridge that leads to the Canadian Flag on Porcupine Peak just below Mount Heinz.

This hike which starts at Miral Heights sub-division in Trail BC and follows part of the hiking trail just off Albert Drive. This old logging/skidder trail route to the Canadian Flag above Sunningdale is about a 3 to 4 1/2 hour hike round trip, and is about a level 4 out of 10 for difficulty.

Junction to take route to flag: Just before the Map Posts located on McQuarrie Creek Trail, there is a place that leads off to the right and goes up to an old logging road to a long since decayed logging Mill camp that was above East Trail and Shavers Bench along time ago back in the late 1920 to 1940s. My friend and I hiked up this old logging road, past the old camp, and kept following it along through some underbush unti, we reached a point just above the Canadian Flag in Sunningdale.

This video will show the route taken in Google Earth to help you get a better idea of the hike trail, and the creek ravine and land conture that the old logging skidder road (now just a trail) follows.
