I had a 1981 rabbit pickup. I got 52 mpg if I drove it REAL easy. Later I put a chrome stack on it and cranked up the injector pump and gave it a suspension lift with ford fairmont springs in the front. After that the mileage dropped to 30 mpg. It was fun though watching it smoke :-)

as to the stop sign running, its possible that locale has a law allowing vw diesels to run stop signs due to the danger of trying to cross an intersection from a stop with such a slow vehicle. just a possibility. and yeah, what is that song?
