After I got my Shiny Venonat in LG, I started hunting Tangela in LG and Slugma in FR.

I was expecting Slugma to shine first, as I got 3 new shinies in LG after I got Rattata in FR, so it was about time for something to appear in FR.

I really love it how shinies usually appear when you least expect them xD
This time aswell, as I was just doing the last encounters for the day.
After about 5 minutes, I saw the silver magma snail scrolling towards the screen.
I tried to press the R button to get into the Help Menu, but my red GBA SP is kinda old, and the shoulder buttons don't work as good anymore.
After pressing the R button like mad, and nothing showed up, I gave up as I didn't want to miss the sparkle while doing so.

I really hope I'll be able to catch the sparkle on video, I always wanted to do that.

Anyways, my 6th Shiny since my drought ended 2,5 weeks ago, enjoy!!!

  • does having a staryu in the front of your party help you get a shiny pokemon faster?

  • @911empoleon Well, it's the Illuminate ability. Having a pokemon in front with it, increases the encounter rate of all pokemon, which means you have to take less steps to find a wild pokemon. So all it does is speeding up the encounters just a little.

I also use a White Flute in addition to that, which has the same effect.

  • Why do I keep hearing of Shiny Tangela and Shiny Slugma? Do they have a higher shiny percent rate than other Pokes or something?

  • @DestinedLPs Kinda ironic you ask this, as I caught my Shiny Tangela yesterday in FR xD

But 2 good reasons to hunt those are:

-They are 100% encounter rate pokemon, so if you get a shiny in their area, it's always the one you're hunting.

-Both of them are great looking shinies, in my, and most other hunters' opinion.

They don't have a higher chance of being shiny, though.

You probably still have to do a few thousand encounters.

  • It must be a cheat '-' Or your lucky star is shining on you!

  • I don't cheat >__>

I always proof my shinies are legit by showing the cartridge and battling other pokemon after the shiny.

  • Crikey! This 'un is a beauty!

  • the shiny i got in fire red was a rhyhorn lv. 21. he was in the safari zone. i still have him now, but he evolved into rhydon. i trained him to be lv. 57 and then took on the elite four with him, and he owned gary.

  • Found a lvl. 28 one of these today at Mt. Ember

    Awesome :D

  • Is it more common to find them on the PC.. Emulator with downloaded rom...? Cause the third or fourth Slugma I encountered was Shiny!

  • @shinyhunter o ok and thanks for the tip

  • Do you use a website to find out where you can 100% find only one pokemon (such as tangela) in a certain patch of grass or do you do it on your own with the pokedex?

  • i got him in emerald :P

  • Shiny slugmas evolve into a purple magcargo. That's what happened to mine
