The top stories from Chrysler Group LLC for the week of October 2, 2009: Stories include: September Sales, Sergio Marchionne press event, Matchmakers and Moparized minivans. See what's new at Chrysler on the Voices of Chrysler blog, chryslerllc.com
Chrysler has a "Diversity Suppler Development Manager? Good grief. No wonder they can't make cars anybody wants. Fiat won't help them either with a $20,000 small car. Adios Chrysler.
Why wait until the second year of Challenger production to offer a manual transmission? Or the third year of production to sell Plum Crazy Purple, when customers are screaming for it... then make it a "limited offer"?
Or, consider the 1968 Dodge Charger, verses the previous year's model. Sales of almost 100,000 units in one model year, even though Plymouth was selling essentually the same car. How? By building the cars their customers were asking for.
Limiting options and colors to specific models, rather than trying to sell as many cars as they can is counter-intuative. I'll use the 1964 Mustang as an example: Offer to build the car the your customer wants, and don't turn them away until you've satisfied their wants or desires...
I realize that sales for domestic manufacturers are down considerably, however, consider the way Chrysler is marketing the Dodge Challenger (my focus).
Stupidity on the part of Chrysler? Sales are down for most companies this month since Cash 4 Clunkers ended (and we all knew that would happen). Only 9 brands posted gains, meanwhile GM down 44.89%, Honda down 20.07%, Toyota down 12.65%, Ford only down 5.08% but not expected to make a profit until next Summer. Chrysler definitely needs new product NOW, desperately, but you should also do some homework!
Is the 200C or any of the ENVI vehicles part of the new plans for 2011?
You guys really need the 200C. I know about all the plans for the redesigns and Phoenix V6 for 2011, but you guys really need something to put midsize competitors to shame once and for all. Take a look around at all the blogs, forums, etc. people are very enthusiastic about this car.
