http://fatnews.com/ Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com.

Having done nearly 50,000 brain scans, psychiatrist Daniel Amen, MD notes that depression and other psychiatric problems are not a single or simple disorder. He notes that...

"Giving someone the diagnosis of depression is exactly like giving them the diagnosis of chest pain.

Why don't doctors give people the diagnosis of chest pain?

Because chest pain is a symptom with many different causes."

What can cause chest pain? Heart attacks, ulcers, gas, muscle pain, and grief.

Doctors don't typically give people the diagnosis of chest pain because it doesn't tell them what causes it or what to do for it.

The same thing is true for depression.

It is a symptom with many different causes.

And one treatment does not fit everyone."

  • What is the name of the music at the begining

    Thanks

  • Where is the love.

    Black Eyed Peas.

  • bridgetbrigitte,

It is much cheaper to buy in powder form.

It also tastes good -- sweet -- which is unusual for a supplement.

    Beyond-A-Century sells it.

    PureBulk sells it.

Do a Google search for "inositol powder".

I'm sure there are others that sell it in powder form as well.

  • Love Dr. Amen's books! I was wondering about the proper dose of inositol for mild depression - I think he suggests 12mg (but capsules are 500mg) so I'm confused, but a lower dose is probably safest.

  • bridgetbrigitte,

I think they use up to 12 grams, which is 12,000 mg, of Inositol, taken in divided doses throughout the day.

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has talked about this.

For example, 3000 mg taken four times a day.

    (One gram equals 1000 mg.)

    Inositol is very safe.

  • My doctor gives me the dx of chest pain all the time. They don't take the time unless you have insurance. The times I had insurance they did aginio's and god know's what and came up with real diagnosos. You are going to die. Give us some more money and we will tell you when.
