DESPERATE MEASURES for Adult Goldfish: When there are NO VISIBLE SYMPTOMS of parasites, injuries, fungal or bacterial infection and my adult fish STOPS EATING - I resort to one desperate measure to save them. I force feed with an antibiotic food called Gel Tek Erythromycin. I only use this when I begin to see signs of emaciation long after first aid has been administered. (First Aid: TEST water quality (ammonia|nitrite|nitrate|pH), CHECK physiological stressors, ISOLATE to a treatment tank, IMPROVE aeration, RAISE temp, observe & treat clinical signs).
Gel Tek ERYTHROMYCIN Medicated Food has successfully helped me when fish is "wasting away" from lost of appetite due to internal infections. I've used up my stock (I had 4 bottles in the last couple years). Please message me if you know where I can source it. Thanks!
PS: I'm not asking for "expert" or "hater" advise on how to cure my fish or alternative methods. I'm fine with my method. I just want to source this med so I can stock up for future emergencies. Geltek has different varieties of gel-based food: Neomycin, Tetracycline, Ampicillin, UltraCure PX, UltraCure BX - I have all of those in my medicine cabinet (for fish). The only one that's hard to find and is SOLD OUT everywhere online is Geltek Erythromycin.
PPS: Yes, I know how to make gel fish food and mix powdered meds in. There's a ready-to-mix Mazuri Medicated Gel food available at goldfishutopia.com. But the consistency will be different. Watch the vid. See how fluid the gel med drips out? This is easier for the fish to swallow. Hope someone can direct me to a store that has Geltek in stock.
