Groundbreaking Escape Rescue Systems

Initiated in September 2003 The Israeli company, Escape Rescue System, has designed a revolutionary external evacuation system that will saves lives and get first responders as well as SWAT teams on location with out having to enter the building from the ground. In July 2004, Escape installed the first prototype system on a 21 story building in Ramat-Gan, Israel.
Selected by the US Department of Homeland Security as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology, Escape Rescue Systems' is a collection of collapsible cabins, permanently stored on the roof in a folded position. It's independently powered and operated to ensure its availability in a mass emergency. In their folded form, the cabins are lowered to ground level, where first responders unfold and enter the cabins. The evacuation system can rescue 30 people per cabin every 8 minutes.

This system cannot rescue anyone in the event of a real emergency. Even being fireproof, it sits right against the building. In the case of 9/11, the flames coming out of the windows would have melted it in one pass. Oddly, the thing left out of this video is the EXPERT with the remote control that is required to operate the gondolas.

A good solution to a very specific and difficult problem.

Except, apparently, the structures these systems would be placed atop, despite being made of steel and concrete, can collapse within their own footprint faster than freefall speed when attacked in the manner their creator no doubt envisaged when they first started the company.

This great innovation needs the WHOLE height of building to be clear of fire to work. So essentially, it only works when there is NO fire at all.

What can i say Israel has more university graduates, Phd's, libraries and Nobel Prize winners per capita than anywhere else on the planet, makes me proud. Maybe if the Muslims invested in knowlege they would come out of the dark ages (but something tells me that won't happen ANY time soon)!!
