empires suck. look at turkey, how much better off they are as a secular nation state. of course, they are trying to play ottoman empire again with this drunkard erdogan, but it will end too soon anyway.

hahahaha swedish nationalists... sorry I dont get you guys, isnt sweden better off today with the social nation state they are? look at russians. theirs have suffered a lot because of perestroika and liberal "reforms"- or, as I call it, daylight robbery- and today still has to recover from this blow.

Poltava is ukrainian city. And this was in Ukriane. Cossacs didn't really like russians. Hetman Masepa joined to Charles in this battle. After the loose of battle Masepa ran to Bender with Charles. After battle Peter I attacked cossac little fortress of Baturin and killed there everyone. Baturin was vanished out. Only now it's rebuilt.

Kung karl, den tapre hjälte, stod i rök och damm
drog sitt svärd ur bältet og bröt i striden fram
hur svänska stålet biter, kom låt oss prova på
ur vägen moskoviter!
friskt mod i gossar blå!!

Charles XII is, for some strange reason, seldom acknowledged today as the great military leader he was.
He was one of the most successful commanders throughout History.
Charles XII managed to keep Scania Swedish, he crushed Poland beyond human comprehension and directed such a powerful blow against the core of the basic economic structures of Russia that this disorderly, hybris-stricken nation, in fact, wasn't fit to enter the age of industrialization until the 20th century!
