Ha, I like the self-portrait. It DOES look like Nick but in a sort of melancholic, demented way. It reminds me of the way he looked in The Birthday Party's video for "Nick The Stripper", as a previous commenter said.

Why is there this childish need to negatively rate everything? This interview is great to watch, I personally wholeheartedly agreed with his approach to creative process. It made me think how just sitting here and whining how nothing comes to my mind is completely missing the point, because writing is hard work.

Great interview. I've watched other interviews where Nick seems agitated and bored with it all, he comes across a lot more relaxed and co-operative here. Probably helps that the interviewer is polite and not a bellend. That portrait is ace, too.

The bottom line is Mr. Cave is an emissary of the cerebral and the literary in music......forget about genres, people...They are only marketing tools...please see: Tindersticks, MF DOOM, Those Poor Bastards(one of the only bands with a Cave/Birthday Party influence), Merle Haggard, Dabrye, DJ Krush, Waylon Jennings(the Good Hearted Woman album 1972)....forget genres, LOOK FOR SUBSTANCE.
