For all of you redneck GOP types SCREAMING about how Obama killed NASA, uh, take a look at the NASA website, it's not killed by a long shot. For you rednecks screaming about how Obama killed the Space Shuttle, BUSH set that into motion. And it you want to split hairs there were only 2 operating Shuttles left after the first two had been destroyed. The Shuttle was/is as old as I am, and I'm pushing 40 myself. What about the Saturn 5? Redstone? Who was whining about those? The Shuttle was RETIRED.

Can you stand to make your point without insulting people? I agree with your points about NASA, but throwing labels like "rednecks" at an entire group of people, and especially phrases like "all of you redneck GOP types," just makes you sound biased, emotionally fueled and just plain childish and is not going to make many reasonable people inclined to listen to you.

Is it just me, or does it sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger is reading the opening narration?

The V-2 blueprints had a lot to do with Sergey's rocket development. But I agree with you about the team of German engineers. The golden goose (von Braun) chose the U.S.. The Americans were more focused on ICBMs than space travel, though. Otherwise they would have easily beaten the Soviets.

In fact German research and engineers (von Braun) were on the US Space Program and had NOTHING to do with USSR success. The mastermind behind USSR Space Program was the Russian Sergey Korolyov.

In fact after WW2 (and before space race) Sergey Korolyov studied the V2 rocket and tried to build one with no success. He abonded the program because USSR didn't want any more failures and because V2 technology was already too old. He built a new more advanced rocket so no German research was involved
