This video is of the second US National Cyclocross Championships that were held in Sunriver Oregon in 1976. Before the advent of MTN bikes and CCX bikes, riders managed to get the job done on what were essentially Road bikes with a few modifications:cantilever brakes, fortified road wheels, wider tires was about it.
Cheers, Lee. From Matt.

Amazing. The skill level in 1976 is at least up to the level of today, if not superior.

Calvin was riding a three speed (derailleur) Legnano in this race. At 19 pounds, it was great to throw over the shoulder up the hills (yeah, he borrowed my bike in this race).
