When a player is disrespectful to the game, to the opponent, to a spectator or to the referee, that can be called a technical foul. Disrespectful is similar to sarcastic or demeaning. A player asking a question is not always demeaning, sometimes it is simply a question and even a loud person can (be- loud, questionning a call) without it being a technical foul- because- the criteria for a technical is not volume, it is whether the words were disrespect or demeaning. This video is mostly relevant to an adult league in Portland Oregon- the standards for technical fouls differ per type of refereeing, adult basketball is somewhat unique and this (video) discusses the way it should be done in an adult basketball league.
