  • I've tried listening in to this from Australia with a cheap handheld set and a 25m longwire antenna, and I can sort of faintly hear it.

  • If I was a world leader, I would make something like UVB-76 just to fuck with everybody.

  • HEY I LIVE IN NORTH EAST PA. I'll have to head to radio shack and get one of these things.

  • I live near Toronto, Canada. Working on receiving this on my Realistic DX-380.

  • If anyone reads the wiki on UVB-76, it's technically a numbers station even though it only stops occasionally for live voice number transmissions. The buzzer is supposed to be an actual buzzing clock that goes into a live mic, because voices are occasionally heard. Watch these:

    v=jOWExpS6q0c

    It *COULD* be a lot of things, but it's officially an atmospheric research station.

  • it was a civil defense system used by the russians during the cold war, similiar to our emergency brodcast system i guess it was never turned off

  • I live in Brazil I can capture that radio signal? thanks for RESPONSE

  • @UnixBoy75

    it's assumed to be a dead man's switch, but that's only a theory. When the buzzer is on, everything is ok. If the transmission should stop unexpectedly, the transmission site and the buildings of the general staff next to it might have been destroyed. In the latter case, Putin might decide to fuck up the world.

  • I live near Port Alberni about 50 miles south east of Mount Washington and alot lower in altitude. I can actually see mount washington in the far distance on a clear sunny day where I live. I guess the higher altitude on the moutain makes it easier hear it. so far I have not been able to hear it yet in my locatioin as of yet.I run a 70 foot random long wire to my dx390 and sw cystal radio.

  • @rEdf196 O: where on Van Island? apparently it can be heard on Mount Washington?

  • I have been tuning my radio (a DX390 as well) to 4625khz since november 2010 when I first learned of its existance. I live on Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada so far i have not been able to hear it yet but I did pick up some sort of electronic data signal kinda like a clucking chicken sound, something I have heard on many SW frequencies since the 80s. I dont think it was the buzzer though.
