UPDATED FIRE TEST: This is a video demonstrating the effects of sparks and flames on various materials in a Vitaeris 320 Portable Hyperbaric Chamber with a Sequal 10 Oxygen concentrator delivering 10 lpm of O2 into the chamber. The portable hbot chamber is pressurized to 4.2psi during the test. Oxygen leves were measured at 34% under pressure.

  • You were lucky, I do not see where the concentrator is on, nor the amount of LPM are coming in?

    WOOD is NOT allowed inside a chamber. Oxygen is not flamable, it is the what you bring in. Another time when this is tried again, you might not be so lucky

  • As stated in the video, the concentrator was flowing at 10 lpm. It was a sequal integra 10. The elevated O2 levels measured in the chamber is evidence that it was on. We did have a second camera in there that we used to film the measurement of the o2 flowing in. As for lucky and next time... We did it 6 times before we shot the final that you saw as we were figuring out how to properly film. By the way, we even smoked a cig in the chamber! mHBOT is not as dangerous as you make it to be.

  • Sad really that the experimenters are assuming that oxygen is an explosive gas. It is not. You get the same results in 100% oxygen medical grade chambers at any pressure. Why would anyone go to this trouble of zipping into a soft chamber when you can get the same therapeutic results with yourchild sitting at home breathing oxygen through a Hudson mask? Way more effective at a fraction of the cost. Back to school, mythbuster.

  • The experiment was not to decide or debate the efficacy of HBOT or mHBOT. The experiment was designed to demonstrate how materials react to sparks and flames in a sligtly oxygen enriched environment. Due to the HBOT explosion in Florida, many CHTs are scaring people into thinking that mHBOT with added O2 is dangerous. This test sets the record straight. As for efficacy, normobaric oxygen as you prescribed has been tried with no effect. Maybe it is YOU that needs to go back to school!

  • Fair response, tho a bit skewed. I have no doubts that there is an almost zero chance of fire when enriching an mHBOT "soft" chamber with O2. Accuracy and facts for the caregivers. Let's not use the word "explosion" until we get the facts. As to your comments on normobaric O2 not working show some stats on this. Where and when? If now normobaric O2 fails to get the same results of mHBOOT claim , then could it be the nitrogen that comes from compression (Henry's Law) in mHBOT????

  • This was studied at a university in Argentina. According to their conclusions, It has not to do with Henry's Law but rather to do with the body's autoregulatory response to the Oxygen level in the lungs. When the mixture of gas in the lung dramatically changes, it triggers an autoregulatory response to vasoconstrict as a defence mechanism. That means the body tries not to allow the oxygen in. However, the body has no autoreguatory response to pressure and hence is caught 'off guard'....
