Are you tired of you cable company's slow ass DVR with its ugly interface? Do you want a DVR that is incredibly responsive, with a full-fledged native high definition program guide? Look no further than CableCARD. Purchase a CableCARD tuner such as the Ceton InfiniTV 4, HDHomeRun Prime, or Hauppauge WinTV DCR-2650, then ask your cable company for a CableCARD. Install the tuner to your PC, stick the CableCARD in it, and enjoy every cable channel your provider carries on your PC including HBO and high definition channels. Best of all, you can drop that $15+ a month DVR rental fee from the cable company! No cable company charges more than $5 a month to rent a CableCARD. A single CableCARD can tune up to SIX channels simultaneously depending on which tuner device you select. Time to hit Google!

  • Hello, first of all apologize for my ignorance in general. I am subscribed to comcast Digital Economy $29.95, HBO$10.00 and Internet $29.99.

After I get the Ceton infinitv & M-card from Comcast, I do the setup and:

a-The M-card replaces the box I have at home? If yes, then I just deliver the box to Comcast and matter resolved?

b-How many channels I could see with Ceton infinitv? Would remain the same that I have or would be more?

    Thx!

  • @customsbyaritario a) Yes, that is correct. b) Every channel you subscribe to except "On Demand" and "Pay Per View."

  • how hard was it to set up?

  • @MrHamit64 Pretty easy. You buy the tuner, call the cable company to have them send you a CableCARD, connect the tuner to your PC and stick the CableCARD in it, install the drivers that came with the tuner and then run through Windows Media Center's "TV Setup." Call the cable company, give them the info the screen tells you to give them, they activate it, and boom, you're all set up. Then if you want to make the guide look fancy like I did, just google "My Channel Logos"

  • What are you using for a remote?

  • @Aqxea This is cheap and it works fine. CE Compass's Windows 7 Media Center remote, just search for it on Amazon. $15, works great.

  • That UI is fast, even faster than my Samsung cableco DVR which is supposedly my cableco's fastest STB.

  • I purchased an InfiniTV4 PCIe and looking forward to having live tv on my W7 PC.

  • Is it possible to have a screen showing live TV while browsing the guide. I like that feature on my proprietary STB.

  • Nice. Okay then, it's just when I read about it on a Comcast forem, the guy made it sound like a real head eeick. What's more, when I tried to talk to Comcast about it, the guy didn't seem to be too sure what he was talking about.
