Here is part two of our very first homemade musical instrument project on http://rockfreakinsolid.com - and electric guitar from spare parts such as a Piezo beeper from a $2 stop watch for use as a pickup, rubber strings, bamboo skewer frets, homemade tuning keys, and scrap wood discarded at a construction site.

And yes, between 4:53 and 5:05 in the video's timeline, that was (sort of) a piece from the opening of Metallica's instrumental "Call of Cthulu" (by Dave Mustaine), from the Ride the Lightning album, back when they were the best, back before their bassist died... Cliff Burton, you are *profoundly* missed... R.I.P., bruhaman - I dedicate this very first project to you.

"When a man lies, he murders some part of the world... these are the pale deaths with which men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any further - cannot the Kingdom of Salvation take me home?" - Clifford Lee Burton, February 10th, 1962 - September 27th, 1986

  • Can you please tell me the math formula to find out where to put the frets or give me the link you are talking about.

  • @2guitar9 - Unfortunatly, YouTube won't let me post links here... however, if you go to my blog, at rockfreakinsolid (dotcom), and under "Topics Discussed" in the right-side sidebar, you'll see "Mathematical Formulas" - click on that, and you'll see a few posts - perhaps the second or third one down, titled, "How to Make an Electric Guitar - the 18 Rule... ", that's what you want to look at :)

  • Would regular guitar strings work for this?

  • @dr4g0n121 - yes, but you would need to use regular machine head tuning keys... and depending on the number of strings and the strength of the wood, installing a truss rod in the neck as well may be a thing to look into... working on one that uses all of this mentioned stuff these days in making ready to relaunch the blog...
