Jerry Lewis pulled from telethon gig

The Muscular Dystrophy Association announced that legendary 85 year old entertainer Jerry Lewis will no longer serve as their national chairman and he won't be back as the host of their telecasts, which he initially brought into the spotlight. CBSNews.com's Ken Lombardi reports.

@wheelinduck I agree that Jerry should be treated better then he was! I also believe that we have to think about the kids with these disease. The MDA needs to realize that with out Jerry they would not be anywhere close to where they are today!!

I think you should have at least given him an opportunity to say goodbye... especially after 45 years!!! I will be giving my money elsewhere!! Jerry added a lot of credibility and class to your cause. You basically dumping him without a proper sendoff will not be forgotten!!!

I never knew that the telethon was yesterday, but do not feel sorry for missing it because it is never the same to see this telethon without as France calls him "Le Roi du Crazy." How rude that MDA sent him off.

thanks for the 800 number. Ain't this ashame its the american way,the music industry did this to Sinatra, Cash and every day corporations dothisto our grand parents and parents. once they get what they need from you then they toss you aside. i have friends who need MDA's Help but even they our boycotting till MDA gives Jerry what he deserves. FU MDA and whomever made that decision .
