Good job, I would suggest steering away from using other peoples music. You may have a personal connection with the song, but others may have different associations with it. As a result, the meaning that you are trying to get across may be skewed by the perception of the individual watching it.

getting hands to animate is impressive, im crap at it, they always look like sausages.

I'm about to attempt a similar thing for one of my college classes. I hope mine turns out half as good as yours. The person who commented on how short and 'pointless' it was obviously doesn't understand the craft.
