I try not to think of them as flash cards because I have seen a mom use them as such and suck all the joy of learning out of her child. You an play Mother May I, Play and Read Baseball and dozens of other games. The games are limitless and they teach the heart reading is fun.

Phonics is Great! Often times children are just not motivated by the materials or the individual that is presents them to them. Learning has become a stress induced experience for lots of children who are kinesthetic learners. Because some of us don't understand that there are different learning styles. Providing good differential learning materials that allow a child to move and feel relaxed helps eliminate anxiety, increases confidence and fosters spontaneous learning.
