1. All days were created by Allah, but Ramadan is special because it was then that the Qur'an was revealed - the Qur'an being the guide to righteous behavior. Without the Qur'an, there would be no righteousness in the world.
2. One can fast whenever he/she sees fit, but fasting during Ramadan is mandatory so that all who fast can remember the revealing of the Qur'an.
3. Allah forgives who he wants, when he wants; stressing it then reenforces the holiness of that night.
