Virtuoso violinist Bruce Dukov re-creates the cylinder recording of Sarasate playing the Bach E major Preludio at Sarasate's breakneck speed, in a Sherlock Holmes episode entitled "The Red-Headed League". Just missing the "Ay Caramba" at the end of the original recording!

  • are we ever going to see an actor playing Sherlock Holmes play violin/fiddle without only screeching...maybe Robert Downey Jr in the Sherlock sequel perhaps?

  • that's the fastest rendition of Bach I've ever heard!

  • @mfelzien in the film holmes just said that sarasate is playing at st james', without specifying the program.

  • This is Bach not Sarasate.

  • Are you familiar with the short violin strain that is looped on the box set DVD menu? It's so lovely and I've never been able to place it. I don't recall it being used in any of the episodes.I always wonder who played it and what the piece is.

This video was very interesting. I loved this scene.

  • This is a fantastic film, I viewed it for free at: WATCHMOVIES4FREE {.} ORG

  • Only one problem here. Sarasate's concerts were sell-outs.

  • does that violin have 5 strings? O.o
