Aua. ;-)

  • Steve Marriott was the best white blues singer ever. He and Ronnie Lane wrote some of the best songs of the 60s. What is there more to say, other than they are both terribly missed.

  • R.I.P Steve, 20 years today. Your music shines on....!!!!

  • I always thought that Steve Winwood was a better singer. However Marriott is a much more exciting performer. I've never seen a British singer completely lose himself in a performance like Steve Marriott.

  • @MannyMUC Word is that Jimi Hendrix, who knew Steve a bit because their girlfriends shared a flat when Hendrix first arrived in London, found Steve's not-quite-so-technically-profient little solo very impressive. Keep in mind that Whatcha Gonna Do About it was released in '65 and was pretty unique for the time. Not to mention bold and aggressive for a guitar player who was really just beginning to learn his craft.

  • That was great! Thanks for posting it!

It's like… white soul. SO good!

  • Really love the Small Faces, but Steve's guitar solo in What'cha Gonna Do is really "minimalistic" - so I am not sure, ift Jimnmy Page could learn much here

  • @Khultan it's Kenny Jones who replaced Keith moon in the Who.

  • No one could sing or move like that little mod Steve Marriott. No one.

And the other three were pretty amazing as well.

  • one of the greatest bands - ever!

  • Absolutely my favourite band of all time, there was only one Steve Marriott!
