BRANDI: 2 Years Old, Chocolate Lab (AKC Registered), Spayed Female, 76 lbs
Brandi is a 2 year old, purebred, female chocolate Labrador, weighing 76 lbs. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. Her current owners need to give up Brandi as they are moving to New York and will be living in an apartment where young Brandi would definitely not be happy. Brandi is a gentle, easygoing girl who LOVES to play with her humans in the yard, especially fetch and chase (she likes to be chased). True to her breed, the only thing she loves more is playing with water and swimming. Every time we go out to the back yard, she stares longingly at the water hose, waiting in anticipation for it to be turned on. Brandi even has a Slip 'n Slide and she runs up and down it tirelessly, trying to catch the water -- she's so funny! She walks very well on leash and will walk by your side and is accustomed to being on a Gentle Leader. She's a very gentle, patient and tolerant girl. However, she can be a bit possessive of her toys, when at the dog park. She likes playing fetch, but doesn't want other dogs interfering with her ball. She will give other dogs a warning if they try to steal her ball.

She is fantastic with people and although I'm not sure what she is like around children, I think she would be very patient and tolerant. Brandi has been accustomed to having company all day. So, she will do best with someone who works from home or is at home most of the day. She will not do well being left alone for long periods. She is not destructive, but she does get sad when left alone for too long. Brandi responds to "sit, stay, come, down, paw and wait". However, she does have selective hearing when she is at the dog park and is not ready to leave. I have had to bribe her with treats on a few occasions to coax her out of the park. It is important that her new owners continue to take her out on daily walks (at minimum a brisk half hour, but preferably longer) and play with her daily as well since she is young and energetic. She really thrives on human interaction. She loves daytrips to the beach or places where she can run around off leash. But, she gets lost in her thoughts a bit and doesn't pay attention to where her owners are. So, it is important that her human keep an eye on her, in case she wanders.

The ideal new owner(s) would be a person or family who is at home mostly. Also, someone who has been a dog owner before and understands that it is a commitment, is very important. Brandi deserves someone who will take their dog owner responsibility seriously and 'engage' with her, i.e. daily walks and regular play time. She will not do well in a home where everyone is super busy and doesn't have time to interact with her. So, please take these things into consideration when deciding whether Brandi is for you. If you do think you are the right fit and want a beautiful, gentle, easygoing but fun loving companion, Brandi is your girl! :-) Brandi is located in Pleasant Hill.
