Nas carved some time out of his busy schedule to catch up with us and drop knowledge about his experiences and memories of making and collecting mixtapes. We caught up with Nas at Silvercup Studios, appropriately located in his hometown of Queens, NY. Nas goes deep reminiscing about cassettes, mixtapes and musical influences (Tribe Called Quest, MC Shan, Kurtis Blow & Queen, just to name a few) while reflecting on his early life in the Queensbridge housing projects.

  • tha last real nigga alive thats official wtf happened to queens yall need to stand the fuck up rap has turned into some techno autotuned bullshit with fags in zebra pants

  • TDK please bring back your High Bias tapes! Considering Maxell, Sony and Basf(Emtec) have dropped out of the race you'd have a huge chunk of market among musicians and indie record labels just for yourself!

Tapes are the last "organic" way to record music!

  • I love classic rock but what he said is awesome

  • Real history lesson from one of hip hop's teachers...the cassette started it all...

  • 0:50 hahaha DAMN!

  • This was a I'll excerpt.. Real talk from a real brother. Nas

  • Nas speaking the truth about tapes lol.

  • I was in the cd to cassette mix era.. same sort of thang but an easier process.

Also shout out if you were to broke to buy the cd and bought the cassette instead !
