What a wonderful concert this must have been! And what an injustice to these highly skilled and wonderfully creative and playful musicians to get yelled at in the comments. Anyone who is curious about what medieval folk music actually sounded like back in the days can consult recordings made by musicians specialized in historical authenticity and learn that much folk music has a fast tempo and high volume, as much of it is dance music. (Ever tried playing pianissimo on a hurdy gurdy by the way?)
much the way of life, old with new mixed in. Its interesting. old instruments with new rhythm. I would also add that many rhythms of the past have just moved to other countries and blended that way. the world is getting smaller indeed. good music none the less
You are right. All modern Folk has nothing to do with the original stuff. It is played way to fast and loudly. And for the smart as who ask people were where they during medieval times, i just respond that you dont need to go basck so many years to access original folk. The first samples colected in loco from the tradicional vilages from all world 50 or 60 years ago, before globalization, were A LOT SLOWER than anything. This video is not FOLK. It is Folk INSPIRED.. Its totaly diferent!
it make me wanna play stronghold 2 now :)

True !
I guess my disgust for modern pop-culture clouded my judgment. And anyway, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

Pardon, but where in this video do they "rock"?
Nobody can guess, how the "real" music of this time sounds. EVERY medieval song is just a guess and an interpretation of some lyrics and notes.
