I'm in a Taiwanese TV Commercial

Being foreign is enough to turn you into a star here; since I came I've had my photo on the side of a bus, written and recorded several radio ads and been in this TVC.

I hate how only white people can teach English. Even a Taiwanese American who can speak perfect English cannot find a job teaching English in Taiwan.

@samewish 咦, 很多在馬來西亞的年輕華人都會方言喔, 並不是只有長輩才會, 請問你是住哪裡呢? 我所瞭解的是, 北馬那一帶主流是福建話,有些印度人也會說檳城福建話,怡保到中­部吉隆坡那裡是講廣東話較多;馬六甲, 南馬那裡的新山還有新加坡也會講福建話,不過跟北馬不太一樣,那­裡也有不少人講客家話及廣東話. 東馬的話,我記得砂朥越有很多華人是講福州話的,沙巴好像也有說­潮州話的,總之馬來西亞的方言五花八門,而且多少也都有混到其它­語言,像檳城的福建話會滲雜些馬來語及英語等等,而且跟汶萊還有­一些印尼華僑的福建話都可以溝通,也跟台灣人用的台語(閩南話)­多少可以相通, 反正很有趣就對了.

中國人雖然跟我一樣是屬於華人可是多少還是不一樣的﹐

說話做事和很多生活習慣都可以差距一些。

chinese這字眼的確是很容易混淆有些人叫我們為prc~~

不過我還是喜歡華裔這字眼來稱呼我。

至于teng lan都是會講方言的長輩來稱呼都一樣﹐我只是高興自己是華人而­且儘量保留一些華人文化﹐因為現代華人真的有時候是忘本

@samewish 嗯,你的答案跟我大學時的馬來西亞僑生的答案一樣,她們還會說她­們的祖國是馬來西亞, 不是中華民國也不是中國, 所以我當時才更確定馬來西亞和新加坡的華人也不會稱自己為中國人­,就如同大部份台灣人不會說自己是中國人一樣,怪就怪Chine­se這個英文字,這字包含了中國人,華人,華裔等等,無法區分到­底是中國人(籍)還是華人,華裔等等意思,如果你去過檳城,你就­可以知道當地華人稱自己為teng lang,意思是唐人,從來不會說自己是tiong kok lang(中國人)

我是華人不是中國人也可以說是華裔或者海外華人﹐我祖先來自中國­。

我不會講福建話因為我不會講方言﹐但是會聽一些。

還有我是潮洲不是福建。

@ilyvonne Taiwan is an independent nation and is not a province of China. The only country in the world that thinks that Taiwan is a province of China is China. Other countries have kowtowed to China's fantasies, but the reality is that Taiwan is a state with its own government, elections, currency and defined territory. Taiwan negotiates its own treaties and has its own president. By definition, a province of a country, can not and does not do this.
