Here's a first. A EAS on a cable system activating for a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. You don't see this often in Kansas. This is on the SCI Cable system in Perry/Lecompton, Kansas.
this happened here in the yuma,az area on july 6,2011.the emergency alert system was activated 4 times on that day between 3:30p.m. and 6:00 pm.It also went off 2 times for a dust storm warning.I think it normally be used for severe t-storm,flash flood,and tornado warnings only.not watches.
Never seen a severe thunderstorm watch black screen on TV.

the eas is normally used for severe weather warnings,civil emergencies and AMBER Alerts in the Yuma,Arizona area.

We had a big storm about 5AM and my power went out twice
