@CoasterBeach Annoyed, not defensive. You really think I refuse to admit the main characters are American? In any case, it's clear you don't know much about this movie or movies in general, so I'm going to discontinue this exchange altogether. You're asking me what it showed instead of told? Really? That issue is the basis of this whole argument; the film's general policy was to show instead of tell. Jesus. Do you even know what you're arguing about? See more movies, kiddo.

@CoasterBeach Films NEED oodles of exposition? Are you an imbecile? "2001" had oodles of exposition? "8 1/2"? What about "Raging Bull"? Most great films show instead of tell. The idea that a film fundamentally requires things to be spelled out is not only cinematically retarded but totally intellectually bankrupt. Yeah, yeah, whining Americans. What does that even mean? Or matter? Two people in a crisis situation tend to whine. You're not saying anything.

@CoasterBeach Why do you need an artificially fast pace and oodles of exposition to enjoy something? Every criticism you're lobbing basically boils down to a preference for unnatural dialogue that only exists in the service of plot, and totally impertinent value judgments. You really think the whole movie would be better if they had arbitrarily included one conversation explaining everything you're curious about? Or was it really that you wanted more action sequences? Be honest.

@CoasterBeach Where the shuttle went and what they found have nothing to do with the film's narrative. It only matters to you because the film didn't pander enough to your particular demographic so you've got to throw inane nitpicking its way. All the information given in the film is exactly what was necessary for it to function; any more would've been pointless. I mean, really, would a species name and planet-of-origin affect the central story in any meaningful way?
Some aspiring film-makers will say Martin Scorsase in their hero.. others will say its James Camera, but none of them have managed to be a one man vfx expert and directing army... this is why Gareth Edwards is my hero!

The next Matt Reeves? Try the next Steven Spielberg or George Lucas! Edwards has creativity and compelling story telling that matches the greats!
