I've heard the saying, "You ain't whistling Dixie" all my life. I happen to like the tune and the song has nothing to do with the issues that lead to the American Civil War, or, as some southerners still call it, "The war of Yankee aggression" and I think it's a tune well worth keeping in the knowledge of American folk music. I think it's a dandy tune and I plan to play it as long as I'm able. Again. I played it on my Clare D whistle, mostly because it's a pretty quiet whistle and doesn't over drive my dinky mic, but also because it's a fun little whistle to play.

  • wow... bravo, very good. Thanks for the share :)

  • You are correct about "Dixie" haveing nothing to do with what caused the war of northern aggression, Obh, sir. =) The song dosen't mention states rights or high Southern export tariffs, or unfair taxes at all. Lol.

  • I would love to be able to download this in mp3 format so that I can teach it to my cockatiels... Nothing better than having the birds whistle dixie when someone comes to visit... ROFL

Any chance that you could make download available?

  • I had to search cuz Chuck is on the back of my chair and he whistles Dixie - he's about 6 inches long or so - maybe 8 I guess - a cockatiel - thanks -

  • Amazing, to hear someone transcribe a song from ear. Keep playing those great tunes. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a great song alive.

  • I play a tin whistle too and I thought that was great. Keep whistling dude.

  • absolutely love it!! nice work!!

  • That was great.

Could you maybe do another video that is slower so I can learn it. I would really appreciate it. If your too busy a reply with the numbers of holes plugged in sort of tab form would be awesome too. thanks.
