Known as Johnny Pearson, John Valmore Pearson (June 18, 1925-March 20, 2011) was a British composer, orchestra leader and pianist. He led the "Top of the Pops" orchestra for 16years, wrote a catalogue of library music and had many of his pieces used as the theme music to television series. He reached No. 8 on the UK chart in early 1972 with his "Sleepy Shores", the theme from the TV series "Owen, M.D." .

    It was a massive hit in 1972.

    If i was lucky to be in love with a woman,i would love this song to be played during dinner with lighted candles.

  • It was always the first piece of music played in the morning at Butlins, Pwllheli and although we never actually stayed there, we stayed at the farm across the road and it could be heard clearly for miles across the fields. Used to be out at 7.30 in the morning picking mushrooms for our breakfast and this was playing in the background with the Curlews singing away.....memories!
