The Indian Armed Forces is the overall unified military of the India encompassing the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Indian Air Force and various other inter-service institutions

The Indian Army is the land based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces.The Indian Army came into being when India gained independence in 1947, and inherited most of the infrastructure of the British Indian Army that were located in post-partition India.

the indian Army has been involved in four wars with neighboring Pakistan and one with the People's Republic of China. Other major operations undertaken by the Army include Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot and Operation Cactus. Apart from conflicts, the Army has been an active participant in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary air force Since independence, the Indian air force IAF has been involved in four wars with neighboring Pakistan and one with the People's Republic of China.

With strength of approximately 170,000 personnel and 1,306 aircraft, the Indian Air Force is the world's fourth larges

The Border Security Force (BSF) is a border patrol agency of the Government of India. The Border Security Force BSF is a component of the paramilitary forces of India (PMF) and its primary role is to guard India's international borders during peacetime and also prevent transnational crime. the BSF is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

With a strength of 240,000 men in 186 battalions, including women battalions, Border Security Force BSF is one of the world's largest border patrol forces.
