Excellent program hosted by 'The Voice' Shri Ameen Sayani at the Shanmukhanand Hall in Mumbai on 26th January 2009 as a tribute to the Golden Era of Hindi Film Music. Platform used was 'Geetmala' the wildly popular musical program on Radio Ceylon when All India Radio had banned Hindi film music. Fantastic orchestration by local musicians with vocals provided by 'Keep Alive' singers. Coincidentally this was the day that Ameenji's was honoured with the Padmashri by the government. Well attended by classic Hindi music lovers, music directors of yore like Ravi, Anandji and of course the ubiqutous politician - the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra ( felt sorry for him). Ameenji might have aged in body but the spirit and the Voice still remains strong. Long Live Ameenji!
