The 56er was developed by Tom Nixon for panfish and trout. The pattern is a small crayfish immitation used by many flyfisherman on the White River in Arkansas. It can be used to catch trout, bluegill, bass, and catfish. This video shows it being tied on a Thompson Model A 360 rotary vise. Recipe : Size 10 4XL streamer hook, 1 lemon wood duck flank feather (mallard flank will work if needed), two strands of yellow yarn, 1 grizzly hackle feather with fibers stripped from one side, oxford gray yarn (light gray yarn will work), lead wire, and black thread.

Note: Yarn is made with 4 strands. Only use 2 of the strands for this fly.
