Should we call ourselves salafi?

When we will die, one of the questions which shall be asked to us is:

"What is your RELIGION?"

And not;

"What is your JAMAAT?"

And the answer must be: "ISLAAM" and not "SALAFI", "WAHABIS", "SHIYA", "TABLEEGH" etc

@easyonetwothree bro i think youve misconstrued his point...hes simply tryng to highlight the mistake of labelling yourself anything other than muslims...its a simple point.....if you need to identify a particular group by a name that they call themselves then thats a completely different discussion

Ibn Sirin (d.110) said,

“They would not ask about the Isnad. But when the fitnah (turmoil/civil war) happened, they said, ‘Name to us your men. So the narrations of the Ahlus-Sunnah (Adherents to the Sunnah) would be accepted, while those of Ahlul-Bidah (Adherents to Innovations) would not be accepted."

So basically what this "speaker" is saying is that the words "Sunni" "Athari" etc all are wrong and should be condemned? A'udhubillâh, doesn't he know how many 'ulamaa have used these labelings?

your hadith is in muslim, the book of zakaat , chapter of giving the mualafatee quoloobuhom just before the chapter of khawaridj. hadith 2451.

It is in Sahih Muslim, I dont remember the exact "number" but there is only one chapter in Sahih Muslim to do with the Khawarij, so if you read all the narrations in that chapter you should find it
