  • damn man i wish the 606 had that

  • yeah thats why back in the day I went for the 505 instead of the 606.

  • Olby,

I got this problem on my sp 505 where if i have too many samples in the same pattern they start to cut each other out. do you know why this happens? Any way around it?

  • thats because of the 8 voice (mono) polyphony limit on the 505. if u use stereo samples then there are only 4 samples that can be played at the same time. so as you can see your best bet is to use only mono samples. and if still it is not enough use the resample feature and layer your sounds and resample to save those precious sample voices.

  • yo Olby where did you find drum loops?

  • i sample and chop from records or find them somewhere else.

  • Yo fam does the swing only work on drums that were quantized at 16th notes or can u still swing 16.3 drums??

  • i cannot figure this out for the life of me!

  • thanks for this 4 part series. good shit. you helped me with the chop function.

  • Synths are very cool in the 505, this is the machine that Chris of underOath uses for a lot of stuff. He records from his keyboard as well as cds and records.

  • Olby,

I got a problem wit my sp-505 where if I have too many samples in one beat they start cutting each other out. it's driving me crazy and it seems like the older the box gets the more it does it. I'm reduced to kicks, snares, highs, bass, and maybe one or two samples. Any ideas?
