I have the 4x4 5spd and it handles great and can do light to moderate off road stuff with the right tires. If this is the worst that Jeep can make then they just won my buisness

this is one of the worst cars i have driven ,my friend got one and its SUCKS !!! yes its economical ,but this is the worst jeep ever built , if you want good offroad car buy FJ or Wrangler stay away from the compass

Totally agree. If Jeep wanted to make a "car" they could at least have made one that could take an old AMC Eagle.

I just got a 2007 Jeep Compass. Great vehicle. Lots of space and power for the price. I have seen idiotic comments about it sucking because you can't offroad in it. Read the literature about it before you judge - it wasn't meant for that. It is an urban jeep made for roads and urban driving conditions. If you get one expecting it to eat up trails, you will be disappointed. It wasn't meant for that. Get a vehicle that is designed for what you want to do and stop making uneducated comments.

I recently bought one and it is terrific. Not a lot of power but it handles very well off- road and it is very economical. I hope it is also reliable (will see)
