Second place in the Expert class was MIN4A, a micromouse developed by Ng Beng Kiat (Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore). For more videos, photos, and information see the micromouse section on http://www.robots-dreams.com.
I would assume that after learning the maze he uses a modified flood-fill algorithm that will take into account the shortest AND straightest path and determines the fastest route in that manner. I don't know what you mean by "hard coded", the mouse has to learn the maze then determine the best route to the center.
I think this mouse was faster than the first place, but it took too long to start

Is the route the mouse takes for the speed run hard coded, or is it generated from the first run?
