More than two years since the last start attempt. Too many other projects have had priority.

We used a couple of hours to get things running smoothly again and pumped out more than 10 litres of rainwater from the crankcase but when we tried to start, it went far better than expected :-)

The engine started running backwards and at time 3:00, I reduce the rpm and give it a couple of manual fuel injections to change direction to forward.

Enjoy!

  • Beautiful tickover. What did this engine come out of? Boat?

  • @VauxhallViva1975 This kind of engine was widely used for ship propulsion in more than half the last century and that goes for this one as well.

  • Did this engine ever get refurbished, and put inside someplace?

  • @cambriacity Still working on it. All brass parts removed and ready for sand blasting. Low priority project so it will take some time. Stored indoors at present.

  • imagine that thing in a car lol

  • thats a workin son va bitch right there!

  • Nice work. I guess you know it's not likely to fire , but watching you bar it over with your head in line with the bar makes me nervous, and that little lug sticking out of the front of the flywheel looks like it would be perfect for removing kneecaps, or am I just being a pussy. I was thinking it was going to break off its mounts and have the flywheel hit the ground in the runaway video, now that would have been a real runaway engine, Half a ton of angry cast iron chasing you around the yard.

  • Ohh, there it is, this video has the extinguisher..haha!

  • What an amazing engine, I salute from Argentina (sorry for my bad english)

  • thats a big ol block for 24 horse power

  • Dear sir, me and my misses would like to rent this engine for reasons that shall remain secretive, but please include hardware for mounting to bed rails.

  • AMAZING!!!!
