Why you shouldn't waste your money buying Roboform. I look at free ways of syncing your passwords between Windows, Ubuntu and Android phones all of which won't cost you a single penny !

Thanks for your comments. SiberSystems did make me chuckle when they commented on my video trying to defend Roboform.. All I have to say to Sibersystems is people aren't stupid, and soon get pissed off having to shell out on something they have already paid for.

  • @Golliath11in Second point I will make is Roboform just doesn't meet my needs, and won't sync databases between ubuntu, windows and my droid phone. Roboform everywhere would, but its pointless when you can do that for free by installing keepass on all devices, and dropbox (which you can also get for Windows, Ubuntu and Droid phone). Afaik with software, if I've paid for a product, I expect to get free upgrades for life, and wiv the next major upgrade of Roboform you will be forced to pay :-)

  • @Golliath11in Some valid points. Yes, keepass does not autofill passwords, but it is open source solution and is available for Android, Ubuntu and Windows. Keepass is a password manager; it allows you to, oraganise and generate passwords. Keypass databases are encrypted with aes encryption. A txt file from a word processor is not the way to go for storing passwords, even if you saved your passwords as a password encrypted ms office file as it could be cracked with the numerous tools out there.

  • It's unfortunate the person who made this video finds RF to b a waste of $. I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but when u need to re-install Roboform after making a change to ur system (such as u changing ur operating system from SP3 back to SP2), u could have re-installed ur RF software free of charge. Even if u misplaced your registration info-just email the company & they happily email u ur original license info.I know this because it happened to me after an operating sys upgrade.

Roboform is still a waste of money - they will only support you with free upgrades within the current version. Lets say you buy Roboform 7, and they then bring out Roboform 8 out - you will be required to pay again ! Sibersystems did the same thing to Roboform 6 users - they were abandoned and had to pay again (to upgrade to Roboform 7). Don't waste your money. Install keypass and dropbox on your pc and android phone and sync passwords for free !

  • @Sibersystems. So you never promoted free upgrades for life? Why not? It seems a great way for you to milk extra money out of your customers, and also the fact they have to pay additional money for extra licences. As I have pointed out in my video, I reinstalled XP, and later found when reinstalling Roboform it nags me to buy another licence! I won't be supporting your software anymore.

I now got free upgrades for life now anyway - thanks to Keepass and Dropbox. :)

  • @SiberSystems I tried using Firefox, you wanted more money. I tried using the portable version I already paid for on a different USB drive - and then discovered you actually lock the thing to the specific drive! Great surprise on holiday THAT was. I agree with the poster here, Keep Pass and DropBox. Even if going for the paid premium version they don't poke you in the eye the way you poked me and this guy. Screw you and your company. It's a great product but your business ethics suck.

  • Your password manager doesn't care what browser you use? Your right because yours does not fill anything in for you. If you go by that then roboform can be used just the exact same way. You do not "HAVE" to have roboform fill things in for you to manage your passwords. If you want to cut and paste why bother with a password manager at all? An encrypted text file would be the same thing. You are just mad that they want to be paid for keeping it compatable with new ever changing browsers.

  • @amigajunkie Your points are right on. I just prefer how RF works for my own usage. I dont think I could be swayed to another app unless the cost of RF skyrocketed.

  • great video and eveything you said is true..i used Roboform2go for about 4 years stopped using it last year after they want more money PER YEAR!...use keepass now :)
