"Rude Hieroglyphics"

You could always just get outside of yourself
And step into my skin
I am a monument covered with rude hieroglyphics
For which there is no key
I mean these are all just night thoughts
Caught while walking in the rain
2 thousand years after the birth of Christianity
The death of our collective souls
It's all just a resurrection of emotion
It's all about memory running backwards
It's all about the faults of eternity steeped in that
Red pyramid of death and their accumulated catastrophes
Which just keep billowing on forever towards the edge of the earth
I know that this world is only the stopover before
Heaven or Hell or endless Limbo
That we're all in it together
Oh yeah were really all in it together
I mean we're all fucking stuck
In this inquisitorial prison cell
We're all attracted to the novelty of the spectacle
Where the roar of beast whose throat has been slit breaks the silence
I mean I love watching the mob clustered around their cages
All those fearful souls doomed to corrupted forms of wisdom
We're all just invalids of duration
All our throats are pulsing
Waiting, waiting for some new kind of truth
But we get is a catalog of afflictions
All we are is crucified by our own desires
Yeah, you want a little light relief?
Sure, you could just step into my skin... yeah...
Into those places where those long, dark scars are
Where hair no longer grows
You'll know what it feels like
A solitary ecstatic with the mouth of a murderess
Always ready to journey that dark night
Always eager for that transcendence which never seems to come

You always have such good taste when it comes to female artists. I checked out Lydia Lunch's poetry and music ...she rocks. Her work is edgy and dark and totally brilliant. She reminds me of a young Patti Smith, my favourite beat poet.
