Sounds like John Denver when he flew a 300K triangle at the 1984 Hilton Cup gathering. He did everything right except he forgot to notch his barograph after release and they rejected his claim. The flight was several firsts for him, first time for a flight over 45 minutes, first time away from the airport and first time to fly a Libelle. He took it in stride saying, "Oh well, I had fun and it was a great flight."
