When PMD's emerge on Idaho Rivers, this pattern is the one to have on your line. A simple fly to tie, everyone should learn how to spin this one up. When Fly Fishing in Idaho always have cripples in your fly box.

  • Cripples Kick fish butt! 2:43 moo! Ha ha nice tie! I use this pattern for trico hatches. Size 18, just olive or brown dubbing all the rest the same. Fish it on a 2lbs tippet, Nice and long. Present the fly first! Listen to the man in the apron, he speaks the truth, Key!

  • letmrun, you've done a great job on this video. It's an excellent pattern, you tie it nicely, the proportions are spot on, and you don't bore the viewers with a bunch of drivel. Yours is a good approach for tyers that have moved beyond the basics and don't need their hand held through the process.

  • @flytyier11: Unless I'm wrong, you're asking about the "material clip" -- it's a small tension spring that you can pick up at your local hardware store. Connect the ends of the spring and slip it over the jaws to keep long ends of materials from getting in the way. I believe there are two more of these further back on his vise as well.
