See how to build a foundation frame - I demonstrate the process of assembling the parts and installing the foundation. This is a Walter T. Kelley brood box foundation frame for my new beehive. More info at http://www.suburbanbeekeeper.com

  • What is the width of the top bar?

  • @BHEIN1965 No. You need to support the frames - once the frame is full and heavy, the stresses are very large. The manufacturer and I both recommend using BOTH nail and glue.

  • well done...I was glad to see it takes you about as long as it does me to assemble a frame.

I like that last nail...I do some cross-nailing since I am always concerned about the longterm strength of the frame, especially when it is full of honey. Plus much of the pine we get these days seems pretty weak.
