Here is an external view of the Explorer 300 satellite modem by Thrane & Thrane, (pronounced thrah-nuh and thrah-nuh) running on Inmarsat's BGAN service. Check out my follow up video on how it works!

  • I am an authorized and trained technician for Thrane & Thrane equipment and I work on the 300/500/700 series Explorer terminals on a daily basis. Few things you might not know about that 300 terminal. 1st it does NOT use microwave energy to communicate. It operates using RF signals Rx 1525.0 - 1559.0MHz Tx 1626.5 - 1660.5MHz The connectors on the back of the unit are not used because they are software disabled at the factory as well as the USB on the 300, that's why it has the cover over it.

  • does the terminal works under bad weather condition? like strong winds, heavy typhoons and sand storms?
