  • Compared Dr. Stallman with Bill Gates, it's as different as an angel and a worm. Dr. Stallman is genuine samurai respected and loved by all good people. Viva, Dr. Stallman!

  • @TheSportCompact Why are you so mad at Stallman? Given the inaccuracy of what you are posting I would say you need a new hobby. If you are serious though.... Stallman isn't perfect, and yeah, he is arrogant, but aren't we all? He wrote gcc and more and gave us GPL (Linux), so what the hell else does he need to do before you give him a little credit? Why so serious?

  • @TheSportCompact Stallman is one of many people who DO deserve the credit I am giving him and more. He was a part of a movement that he was instrumental in keeping alive after AT&T wanted to lock down UNIX (not free software, try again. If it was there would be no FreeBSD). Apache deserves praise, but Stallman start the FSF over decade before. Stallman wouldn't take credit for Apache, but if you insist. Stallman speaks out against certain licenses for a good reason. Do a little research, friend.

  • @TheSportCompact I said it was a "paramount" or, important piece. But it is very small. You argument is killed easily: what do you call the Android OS. Same difference. Linux is its kernel, but no one calls it that and some developers make a point out of saying it isn't Linux. Sure I heard of GNU Herd. I herd it went nowhere. I never said Stallman was a perfect man. He is just a very important one people should respect and listen to. That's just my opinion, but my facts are spot on.

  • @barrybear2011 Alex is correct but you can't to see it in this instance. The type of software they use to produce the video / television aspect of the show does not have Open Source or Free Software counterparts that function even remotely like the software they currently use. Then consider that no company produces or supports hardware necessary for the type of video production Alex and his staff are doing on Linux. I love Open Source / Free Software, don't get me wrong, just speaking the facts.

  • @exiquio The kernel is a small piece of an OS stack. Have you ever taken any computer science classes because if you have, then you'd know that the kernel is far from a small part of an OS stack. Without the kernel there is no OS. That is why Stallman steals all the credit from Linux that he does. Ever heard of HERD? That was and is Stallman's abysmal failure at creating a GNU developed kernel. The reason why it failed is because of his being a control freak and micromanaging it into the ground!

  • @exiquio Stallman does not deserve any of the credit you are giving him. First off Open Source / Free Software movements were not something he created. They are just something he stole all the credit for. Unix and Apache for example were open and free environments long before Stallman stole the credit he has claiming he founded the movement. Firefox models it license like the BSD and Apache licenses, not the GPL, and Stallman has spoken out against both because he does not control them.

  • @barrybear2011 First off, what I have done is not a personal attack against RMS or in violation of YT's TOS. Everything I have stated about him is factual but you are too ignorant to check into it for yourself. Not only that, it is protected Free Speech under the Constitution. So quit your crying and un-clamp yourself from Richard Stallman's teat. If you had half a clue you'd see he is the software equivalent to the founder of Jones Town wanting to rule over all he possibly can as a martyr.

  • @TheSportCompact "When someone counters your misguided beliefs and information with facts, you resort to personal attack" and you're resorting to the same with your lies and disinfo against RMS and the GPL. Microsoft must pay you well to attack Stallman and GPL.

And read the YouTube ToS. Personal attacks are a serious no-no, and repeated abusive personal attacks - in either videos or comments - may result in the termination of your account.

  • @barrybear2011 I agree - I'll come work for peanuts! I can hook it all up for ya Alex.
