  • The Lakota have their OWN religion. Why do people think that JESUS is so much better? I'm glad that Christianity has helped this lady, but the brainwashing that gets some to convert is no better than the old days of bibles and bullets.

  • yeah the lakota have their own religion but its so misconstrued and if you wanna say that everybody is wakan, than you are lying...my wife is here helping these kids out and i am a christian myself as is my family, we are Janis's from the Pine Ridge Reservation and ive lived "The Lakota Way" and theres nothing special about it. the only answer ive seen was through Christianity. but you have your opinion and religion and we dont condemn you nor do we push our religion upon you, its your free will

  • C'est pas possible que dans un pays les usa on vit dans de telles conditions;

  • Hello Janis, apologies I only just received your comment. However, I stand by my original statement. I worked at Loneman and O Kola on and off between 1989 and 1992 so have first hand experience of the situation. The Lakota originally embraced Christianity out of brutal force, and has since become an accepted part of everyday worship that complements traditional values. I would accept it more if not for the initial taming methods involved at the hands of outsiders. Mitakuye Oyasin.

  • Don't push Christianity on these people. I think that the Lakota should go back to their ancestral ways, their roots. Even if it means living in teepees. After all they were able to live here for hundreds of thousands of years without a problem. The problem was the white man.

  • @Chroma100

    Christianity is not brainwashing. You would be surprised to see how closely related most Native American religions are to Christianity. It is possible for me to believe in Senawahv and God so I do. I also know that almost all tribes have a central belief system shared whether our gods have different names or not. It is okay for Jesus to be shared on reservations.

  • i so agree, christiand should be banned from all indian reservations and from republic of lakota

  • I was born a Jew, but my mom could not take care of me. SHe relinquished her rights, not before leaving a beautiful Star of David around my neck. THe first thing the good Christian nurses did was getting me baptized. When I was adopted, some years later, the woman in charge of the institution told my new parents: - Her parents were Jewish, but she was saved.
