This video shows me controlling Windows Media Center by voice. It uses some scripts I wrote and Windows Speech Recognition. The microphone is placed behind the lounge suite and works from anywhere in the room. It works well enough to remove my remotes from my lounge room altogether.

That is why you need the trigger which will drop the volume of the TV to a level you can talk over.

I had this but it was hard for the mic to listen to me while music or videos were playing, and i ended up shouting "STOP, STOP!", awkward hehe. Any solution to this?
btw i jus stickd to remote control.
