This week I was in Washington DC. I had a few meetings, and even though it was raining out, because I didn't have money for taxi rides I decided to walk .

I met a few new homeless friends along the way. Calvin has only been homeless for a month. He says "there is no guarantee that you'll always be taken care of or have a job"

Calvin talks about the horrors of living in the shelter system. He'd rather sleep outside in the rain than stay in a shelter.

The good news is Calvin is getting help from an homeless services organization and hopefully soon will be off the streets before the rain turns to snow.

  • I think the homeless problem in D.C. bothers me more than most cities. Not because the people everywhere else aren't as important, but because you have politicians in huge buildings doing nothing but lying to people and getting/taking millions while right outside their window, people can't afford decent shelter or even food. america! Capitalism must end.

  • Please do a follow up on this guy, he is really deserving, they all are and no one deserves to be homeless, but this guy really touched my heart. I feel sorry for myself sometimes, I live in an old trailer, working on a rat infestation and the floors are rotting but I have a roof and a job and food so I'm doing very well considering the alternatives.

  • Bless his heart. I live in Scotland and would love to help him, I buy tents and essentials and give them to people who do not have a home does anyone know how I may be able to get in touch with this man, maybe I can get one of the 'Dont vent support a tent' reps over there to go and see him and hopefully help him.

    Blessings and Love

  • @VideoGuyNC Correct... also its interesting (frightening too) to see how big companies get bigger each year by swallowing the smaller ones (like AB Inbev :s) i wonder what will happen with these big industries, they are getting more powerfull then governments. in time of the industrial revolution the big working class got paid so little they had to rent houses from... the very own companies they worked for. plus sort of tickets to buy overpriced food in the stores of that same company. no escape

  • Atleast the bankers aren't homeless.

  • The early videos in this series used to be longer; please consider filming each person for maybe 8 or 10 minutes a piece! I don't know how many of them would want to say that much, but it would be interesting to know what their home life was like or where they come from, and they might not say those kinds of things unless they speak the whole time. these personal details make the videos more touching.

  • This guys freaking me out with his weird facial movements and constant twitching

  • @VideoGuyNC Free Markets are not the problem !!!!

The Fed Reserve, IMF, World bank, central bank These are the culprit and blaitent

This corrupt Organizations have no resemblance to " free market capitalism" What you have here is like the Republican party stepping in and saying they are the tea party on steroids It's a lie Free Market Capitalism is what brought America to the forefront in all industries.... We where sold out buy crooks!

now there saying it is because of you system Nope

  • @dmhappy2777 Yes capitalism is the problem behind the rising homeless problem. Capitalist ideologies dictate that there has to be widely varying levels in the system to make the whole thing work. It requires that some have lots of money at the "top", so those at the bottom will try to obtain the capital of those at the top. Problem is, the top dogs piss on us and call it a gift. And many end up falling off the system because the rich simply bank their massive capital instead of circulating it.

  • I wish i could help him, what happened to our Country. We are falling apart at the seams. Keep your head up Calvin, Have Faith.
