Richard playing at his usual spot on Beale Street. Always has a crowd gathered. He talks some into dancing and the guy really getting down seems to be a regular on Beale.

  • Lmmfao get it mane

  • He didn't have to play in the streets in Japan. People who knew him told me he was making plenty of money in all kinds of gigs. But, on the other hand, busking was what I was doing to survive there. Only the Israeli merchants who pay off cops are allowed to set up in the streets to sell manufactured trinkets, or do any busking too for that matter. Just don't get caught I guess..

  • He was a student at Gifu University in Japan. Had some sort of arrangement with a local club owner Satoshi Muto to play Blues in exchange for beer. I had hitchhiked there, so was trying to survive in that bar, by working, even stealing food on the sly. Some Fusion player got into a barfight with him one Saturday Blues night. But, then again, Richard was..playing all night until 4:30. I got blamed for this, but I was starving to death at the time. It helps to clear that up if I can.

  • Dancing to Richard Johnston on Beale with a bunch of women I didn't know was about the most fun I ever had on Beale St. It is a must if you watch this man.

  • the only true one-man band.

  • I sat and watched Richard for hours when I went to Beale street and loved every minute of it.
