The Noosa Festival of Surfing has been running for 20 years and the the event has evolved into a nine-day festival, an ASP-sanctioned competition and a cultural hub for the longboarding community. The festival attracts surfers from the US, Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, South Africa and New Caledonia and over the years has been attended by numerous world champions of the sport including Shaun Thomson, Mick Fanning, Occy, Tom Curren, Tom Carroll, Rabbit Bartholomew, Nat Young, Josh Constable, Steph Gilmore, Layne Beachley and Mark Richards. It is the festivals celebration of the soul of the sport that has kept surfers coming back for two decades. Art and photography exhibitions, surf demonstrations, vintage surf memorabilia, music performances and film previews -- all coloured by a love for the ocean and surfing.
The Noosa Festival of Surfing is typically held over the second and third weeks of March.
